Ear Candling

Ear candling has been around for many years and has been practised by many ancient civilisations.

The candles are hollow, have no wick and are made from cotton, cotton flax or hemp fibres. They can also include herbs such as camomile, sage, St Johns Wort along with beeswax, beta-carotene, honey and propolis which enhance their therapeutic benefits.

The treatment involves the client laying down fully clothed on one side whilst the candle is lit and placed into the ear. This usually takes about 10-12 minutes. Then the client turns on the other side and the other ear is treated.

As it burns down, the rising air column in the centre of the candle creates a mild suction at the base helping to loosen compacted earwax and gently massaging the structures of the ear bringing relief where there is congestion in the ears, nose and sinuses. In addition there is a balancing of pressure in the ears, nose, sinuses and throat which creates a soothing, light sensation in the ear and head area as the sinuses are drained and cleared.

A relaxing facial massage follows the treatment to enhance the effects further as it stimulates the blood circulation and encourages elimination of waste.

The whole session lasts about 50 minutes in total.

Many clients find ear candling a soothing and relaxing experience.
